A Busy Busy Day (Again!)

I'm posting these 2 relatively boring pictures because they speak a thousand words. To a teacher, this shows totally engaged, engrossed, hands-on, task-focused learning. Choose an educational buzz word and this class is it, for 30 minutes. What were they doing, you ask? Making hemp friendship bracelets. Ha! I kid you not.

The Details
Today was "take your Grade 9s to work" day. We were lucky to have Mme Demeter's Grade 9 daughter as our guest, in class! Maxine was a great help as we started our Procedure Writing assignment.

Procedure Writing is writing about "how to do" something, using logical language and steps. Not as easy as people think! So, we learned how to make hemp friendship bracelets. The girls were happy - the boys looked at me with "whaaat?"

They were engaged and focused. They learned how to braid and loop. Now let's see if they remember "how to" and actually write a focused paper on the procedure! We may need a little more practice before we break out the notebooks.

In the afternoon, we had a staff/student baseball game. Staff won! Oh yeah! I've removed the "comments" section from this blog for fear of unsolicited nasty comments. Ha!  Don't worry kids. There's always the re-match in the Spring. Start practicing.

For the record, I didn't push O'Reilly off home plate. Well, maybe just a little ....

See you tomorrow!
Ms Vincent.
