Today, we focused on communicating about geometric shapes in our flags. Communicating about Math is part of the Ontario curriculum expectations. I think Matthew did an excellent job!

Dear Rashad
This week I made a flag. My flag is made up of different shapes such as rectangles, triangles and parallelograms.
In each corner, I have 4 congruent isosceles triangles and on each side I have a quadrilateral. They are congruent because they are the same size and shape and have the same angle measurements. On the bottom middle I have drawn a spade. The two shapes beside my spade are similar and not congruent. I also have an isosceles triangle at the top middle and a star inside it.
My flag is colored blue, green, red, yellow and black. I chose a spade because I like to play cards and spades are my favourite card.
I bet my flag looks better than yours!
