First Day News

It was so wonderful to see my new Grade 7 class today! I took some time getting to know everyone. This is the first class I've had as an Intermediate teacher where I have not taught the students previously in the Primary grades, with the exception of one or two students. For me, it's extrememly important to get to know their interests, hobbies, favourite music, movies, sports they play, books they read, favourite authors, subjects they like - what makes them who they are. We also spent time adjusting to new routines (use of lockers) and remembering old routines (lining up before entry, listening and taking turns talking in class). All routines take time and patience and so this week there will be much to learn and practice.

Day One was getting to know each other. Day Two is getting down to business with the issuing of text books, duotangs, exercise books, and timetables. Tomorrow is Day 2. Subject teaching starts tomorrow. Phys. Ed is on Day 3 (this week that is Thursday). Please ensure you bring running shoes.

A warm welcome to our new students: Andrew, Maunica, Will, and Stanley.

The first day package of forms was sent home today. Please sign and return as soon as possible.

Agendas are $6 and will be issued to students when money is brought in. Thank you.

There is one Clairlea School Calendar that was sent home with the youngest student attending Clairlea.

Students are to supply their own lock for their locker. Thank you.

I would like each student to have a binder for organization purposes. Lots of paperwork is sent home regularly and if students have a place for loose pages, chances are they won't get lost.

Finally, thank you to so many students who helped out today - you were AWESOME!

See you all tomorrow.

Parents and students, please check this blog regularly. I try to update on a daily basis. Things you will see are important dates, homework outlines, reminders and so forth.
